If you’re a parent, you know taking little ones shopping isn’t always a walk in the park. Sure, there are good moments too, and there’s nothing better than spending time with your babies. However, trying to handle a toddler’s meltdown in the middle of a store is absolutely no fun. Especially, when it seems like all eyes are on you.

But instead of it seeming like strangers are staring and judging as you’re struggling with unhappy kids – wouldn’t it be nice if they acted with kindness?

One Texas mom knows what it’s like to have a stressful shopping experience. It all started when she took her two kids to a Target in Pearland.

Rebecca Paterson is the mother to Aiden and Jacob, who were only two-months-old and two-years-old at the time. So needless to say, when she took them out for a shopping trip, she had her hands full.

The mom was having a particularly rough day with her two little ones.

Right after walking into the store, both of her kids started “having a meltdown” and were seemingly inconsolable.

Things were so bad that Rebecca was about to put her groceries back and get out of the store. After all, trying to handle not one, but two crying kids is not easy – especially in public.

Luckily, a kind stranger saw what was happening and decided to intervene.

The woman in question was Tiffany Guillory, another mother from the Pearland area.

According to Tiffany, she was more than ready to lend a hand.

“I said, ‘Go ahead and do your grocery shopping and I’ll just hold Jacob and talk to him.’” she says. “I picked him up, I put him in my arms and I talked to him in a soothing voice.”

The mom was relieved to have the kind woman’s help.

Tiffany walked around with little Jacob for about 45 minutes while Rebecca finished up her shopping. At the end of it all, Rebecca shared a photo of the encounter in a private Facebook group for Pearland area moms.

According to Chron, she wrote:

“She saved me today moms!!! I am so sleep deprived and was running on empty. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way.”

Although it started as a small story, it made headlines and spread across the internet.

According to Tiffany, the entire thing was almost destined to happen and she was glad to be a part of it.

The story was picked up by KHOU 11, a local news station, where Guillory further explained what happened.

“I just wanted to help,” she says. “God sent me there to help her.”

Above all, this heartwarming story is another great example of how a little patience can go a long way. Rebecca says she’ll never forget the kindness she was shown that day.

“I didn’t feel judged,” she says. “I had a helping hand and I needed it at that moment.”

Although it may feel like there are a lot of strangers who are quick to judge your parenting – there are also many kind souls who are empathetic. After all, no kid is perfect, and being a mom or dad isn’t easy.
