You should never underestimate the power of a makeover. Talented makeup artists can not only help somebody to refresh their whole look, but also their confidence, their self-worth, and their entire outlook on life.
Christopher Hopkins, aka. The Makeover Guy, is one of the best at his job.
The hair and makeup artist is famous in the beauty industry for his incredible makeovers, and has had TV appearances both for his creative artistry and for his singing talent. Some people have it all!
What makes Christopher stand out from the rest is that he takes on challenges that others would avoid. He can see the beauty in somebody who has forgotten what it’s like to feel beautiful themselves.
He’s most well-known for helping his older clientele regain confidence, and has even penned a best-selling book, “Staging Your Comeback, A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45”.
One woman, called Sue, went to Chris for help after losing touch with who she really was.
Sue, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, wanted to move on after recently getting a divorce. She had only a few basic wishes to share with Chris:
“I want to look better than I do, and I have some grey hair I’d like to hide.”
Not a challenge for The Makeover Guy!
First up for Sue was the makeup chair. Her makeup artist used a skin-colored powder to cover any areas that were red or dark, lightning the areas and giving her flawless-looking skin.
This was followed up with an all-over brush with a slightly darker color, which, according to the experts, would give Sue a “warmer glow”.
Next, it was time to rid Sue of her greys!
Her hairdresser explained that Sue was to become a blondie – though her new boyfriend had no idea of this transformation.
And that was all there was to it – Sue, who just said she wanted to “look better”, underwent a complete transformation.
The first thing she said about her new look? “I think I look really hot!”
Sue was clearly impressed with what she saw, and said that she thought everyone should “do this once a year”. How about once a week? There’s always a reason to dress up and look good!
Christopher and his team have certainly done a fantastic job.
Sue’s skin does indeed look radiant, and her blonde hair and glam makeup take years off her. She’s wearing a beautiful glittery gold gown that complements her hair and eyeshadow perfectly.
Although Sue admitted that to her, her finished look was a little too high-maintenance makeup-wise, she didn’t hesitate to add that she liked the look. She added:
“If when I do something special, if there’s ever a special occasion, I’ll come in to have some false eyelashes put on. I really like them.”
Apparently, Sue had never used falsies before, only mascara, but her makeover has convinced her that they’re worth the extra effort!
Although Sue isn’t a selfie person, she said she plans to take plenty of her new look.
Though her makeup won’t last forever, The Makeover Guy proved something important to Sue: her everyday image could easily be transformed whenever she felt like it.
We don’t all look like beauty queens on a daily basis – and nor do we want to be. But it’s a fantastic confidence booster for those special occasions, as Sue rightly says!
