What can be more fun than convincing unsuspecting people they are in a highly dangerous situation?
Nothing, that’s what.
To this end, several pranksters have figured out you can give people a good scare with a remote-controlled boat and a toy alligator head. All one must do is put the toy gator head in the water, use the remote-controlled boat to swim it over to someone, and then bask in the hilarity of that person panicking and trying to get away.

The floating gator heads are available to purchase on Amazon here. Technically, they are used to clear any water area of unwanted birds, geese, or other animals that like to defecate on places we walk. It acts as sort of a scarecrow for anything you don’t want nearby and evidently that can include people.
“Realistic, life-sized floating replica of an alligator head is perfect for any water area infested by birds geese, egrets, cormorants, heron and more,” a description of the gator head reads.
The listing for the product never specifically says that you should not use the gator head to scare people, however. It certainly has proved useful for this purpose as well.

In order to make the floating gator head move where you want it to, you’ll have to place a little remote control boat under it. As you control the boat, you will also control the gator head. This will make it look like the gator is swimming toward someone and cause them to panic.

In the video below, pranksters are shown scaring boaters, swimmers, and even people just sitting on a dock. Absolutely no one seems pleased with the pranksters after but some have a better sense of humor than others. It does appear that the pranksters at least got their permission before posting to YouTube.

One thing the video shows off is how different people respond to what they perceive to be a dangerous situation. Some people will panic and fall out of their boat, some people will just swim as fast as they can, and then there are others who go into “hero mode” and make sure that the gator can’t get at anyone else.

As cruel as this prank may be, no one can deny it can be pretty funny. That’s likely why a YouTube video featuring highlights of some of the best pranks has been viewed more than 35 million times online.
Many viewers felt compelled to leave a comment on the video as well.
“The guy that elbowed the gator looks like he had been waiting his entire life for that moment,” one viewer wrote.
“If he did it in Australia, the locals would just be like ‘it’s very small, no worries’” wrote another.
“Imagine after prank is over, he picks up the head and it’s a real gator.”
