In this adorable video, we get a glimpse at just how sweet pit bulls can be

The video starts with one-year-old Cruise snuggling on top of his pit bull, and it looks as if the pit bull is holding him as his mother would. Cruise’s dad, Jared, breeds American Bully dogs, a type of pit bull he knows would never harm his two sons.

Jared has criticized this because of the bad stigma pit bulls get, but he is here to say his dogs are just as sweet as any other breed and is proving it through the adorable posts on Instagram. Hopefully, this will open people’s eyes to the fact pit bulls are just like any other dog breed, if not more harmless and sweet.

Where does the bad stigma about pit bulls come from?

Pit bulls are quite a controversial dog breed considering they are banned from 700 cities across America due to stories of attacks and bad behavior circulating and made this once beloved breed feared by many. Experts say dogfighting has contributed to their bad reputation.

Dogs made to dog fight are conditioned to make them more angry and aggressive, and pit bulls have a strong bite, so they are the dog of choice for dogfighting. Sadly because of this, pit bulls make up a large number of sheltered dogs. However, these dogs used to have a much different reputation before this.

Once upon a time, pit bulls were “nanny dogs.”

Before pit bulls got such a bad reputation, they were a quite popular household breed and were known to be loving protectors of their families. Pit bulls are naturally strong, intelligent, and courageous and, like any other breed, live to please their owner.

In the early 1900s, pit bulls were lovingly called “nanny dogs” due to their faithful, loving, and loyal qualities, especially when it comes to children. At this point in history, they were probably the most beloved breed in England and America, for a good reason.

Considering the root of the pit bull breed, they have such a strong sense of loyalty to children; it makes sense why Jared’s dogs are absolutely harmless and super protective of his sons. This absolutely proves Jared’s point and will hopefully destigmatize pit bulls.
