The judges were all smiles when 14-year-old Gabz walked onstage in her bright onesie. She certainly sported a style all her own and her outfit, hat, and shoes were only the beginning. She was about to bring a fun surprise to all with performing her own original song with an incredible voice to deliver it.

“The One”

It came time for Gabz to announce her song choice – and it happened to be one that she wrote herself called “The One.” She explained the song is about losing the love of your life. Naturally, the judges were curious if that’s happened to her given her young age. She answered with:

No, but I’ve watched lots of movies.

After getting more laughs from the judges and crowd combined, it was time for Gabz to perform her song. She sits down at the piano but immediately hits the wrong chord making her nerves rise from the start.

A Quick Recovery

But, quickly she falls into her song with a catchy melody and even adding her individual flair with bringing rap along with her piano playing. The judges were surprised and made it clear with their facial expressions and body language they loved every second of it. The crowd agreed giving her a standing ovation along with hoots and hollers of approval.

Time For The Judges To Chime In

The first judge, Alesha Dixon, immediately praised her melodies, rapping while she was piano playing, and loved her outfit. She felt she is very sweet and loved her performance. David Walliams followed up saying,

To write a song like that at 14-years-old, who knows what you can do. We’d be crazy to let you go.

But What About Simon?

You could see the nervousness on this young 14-year-old’s face when it became Simon’s turn to give his critique. Just like every contestant before and likely after her – it’s his opinion that makes butterflies in their stomachs more than anyone else’s.

As she waited he gives her the response she had been dreaming for:

I absolutely loved that.

He went on to praise the song, the chorus and though he didn’t think she was the best piano player in the world, he felt she was very likable. The judges all agreed and even admitted they expected the song to be stuck in their heads when they will take their break for tea later. It came time to vote and each of the judges gave their wholehearted “yeses.”
