TSA agents work tirelessly to keep us safe by scanning passengers’ luggage at the airport. Surely they find lots of dangerous and unusual items – but a carry-on bag stuffed of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos?
Believe it or not, this actually happened recently at the Los Angeles International Airport. When agents discovered that a woman was trying to bring 20 bags of the snack food onto her flight, they decided to investigate. After all, it seemed kinda fishy…
There are certain jobs in this world where employees always have an interesting story to go home with. With that being said, airline workers must keep their families entertained with all they see each day.
On the TSA’s social media accounts, they actually post some of the strangest items they’ve found in carry-on suitcases. From live animals, gigantic scissors, to high-heels shaped like guns – it makes you wonder what the heck some people are thinking!
We all know that when you pack to travel, you need to be mindful of what you’ll be bringing through security (no full-size shampoo bottles or soap, check!).
Social media star, Emily Mei (AKA: Emily Ghoul), wasn’t thinking she’d be setting off alarms when she packed for South Korea. I mean, is it really that weird to fill your Louis Vuitton bag with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos?
Well, TSA agents seemed to think it was a bit odd. So much so, they stopped Emily from passing right through. Instead, they unloaded the bag and realized there were 20 packages of the tasty treats inside.
The suspicious agents began swabbing the Cheetos to make sure there wasn’t any funny business going on. In no time though, they couldn’t help but crack up.
Emily told Inside Edition:
“Literally everybody from TSA came over and they were laughing. They were like, ‘What is going on?'”
Emily’s used to having tons of followers (she has more than 400,000 on Instagram alone), but that day she wasn’t trying to be the center of attention. Can’t a girl just get on her flight with tons of munchies?
It turns out Emily actually had a good reason for toting that many packages on board, and it’s not because she was super-hungry.
She explained to Inside Edition that she was simply bringing them for her friends in South Korea who love the orange snacks. According to Emily, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos are hard to get over there and are around $15 for a small bag if found (yikes).
Isn’t that a sweet gesture? Emily also told the reporter that “she is not paid to endorse Cheetos.”
A Cheetos representative responded to the story with the following statement:
“The thought that someone would take the time bring bags of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos to a friend halfway around the world made us smile.”
The bizarre story has people chiming in online. Many people could relate to Emily’s desire to bring food overseas.
“When I came back from Mexico I always bring my whole suit case filled of Mexican chips that they don’t sell here in Utah 😂”
Another person hilariously wrote:
“If I was working there, those would have confiscated so fast. Snacktime for days. 😎”
In the end, there wasn’t any dangerous activity going on with the Louis Vuitton dull of Cheetos. But better safe than sorry, right?
