The world can be a dangerous place.
And oftentimes it’s because of bad people doing bad things.
Most of us will go through our day without having to deal with these bad people.
But every once in awhile, we’ll come face to face with a dangerous person.
And this was exactly the case for one woman in China while she was riding in an elevator.
Everything was fine until the man stepped up behind her and sniffed her hair while she was looking down at her phone.
This bothered the woman–as it should have–so she turned her head and stepped away from the man.
There is no audio on the security footage so we don’t know what she said to him, if she said anything at all.
After moving away from the man, she puts her phone away, and stands uncomfortably by the side, waiting for the elevator to reach her floor.
But the man wasn’t done being a creep.
He steps back up behind the woman and drapes his hand over her shoulder.
This time, the woman isn’t letting him off the hook so easily.
She swats his hand off of her shoulder and turns to face the would-be molester.
He stares back at her only for a moment before she lets her right-hand fly and connects firmly on the side of his face.
This stuns the man and knocks him back against the elevator wall.
He regains his footing and just as he stands up straight, the woman sends a nasty kick to his groin.
The kick connects and the man bends over in pain, holding his hands between his legs.
Then the woman grabs the back of his head and finishes him off by pulling his head down towards the ground as she launches her knee up into the air, smashing it into his face.
You can see the man’s head snap back as he falls to the ground.
Then the doors open and the woman calmly exits the elevator, leaving the pervert laying in pain on the floor.
It’s great to see this woman stand up for herself and put this disrespectful man in his place.
Because unfortunately, it’s not very uncommon for women to be the subject of sexual violence in China
According to SpringerLink, “Based on a survey implemented in a county in central China, the researchers found it is common for women to experience gender-based violence… One in five men reported having raped a partner or non-partner woman.”
This is awful to hear and it’s not just a problem in China.
We have this issue right here in the U.S. as well.
Now.org tells us that, “According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, which includes crimes that were not reported to the police, 232,960 women in the U.S. were raped or sexually assaulted in 2006. That’s more than 600 women every day.”
So what can we do to help mitigate this issue?
Well, one way would be for women to learn a few self-defense moves.
Because it works in two ways:
For one, if you can protect yourself, then you can keep yourself from becoming another statistic and end the situation before it even begins.
And two, by attacking your would-be attacker, you are teaching them that they can’t get away with their assaults anymore–potentially stopping them from assaulting other women in the future.
So take a tip from this badass elevator woman and be prepared to defend yourself should a dangerous situation arise.
