Growing up, you always listen to lullabies and nursery rhymes, and tend to prefer one over the others. When you have children, you tend to sing them to sleep with a sweet lullaby or nursery rhyme, which is doing even more than help them sleep. In this delightful video, adorable two-year-old, Josie, shows off her favorite nursery rhyme “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” and it’ll lift anyone’s spirits!

Why do we listen to nursery rhymes as toddlers?

Nursery rhymes and lullabies aren’t just made for wholesome music for children; they have a lot of properties that help children learn! They teach children how to say words, build memory, and many other skills needed for life. Nursery rhymes and lullabies prove to be extremely effective ways of helping children learn.

The nursery rhyme “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” is a classic nursery rhyme about Old MacDonald who, as you could’ve guessed, owns a farm. The nursery rhyme goes through all the animals and all the noises they make, which is an excellent learning tactic for children in so many ways!

How darling Josie took this nursery rhyme and made it her own.

When the video starts, we see Josie start to sing her nursery rhyme while wearing a toy glove that represents the animals she is about to sing about. You can tell this song is helping Josie pronounce her phonics and remembering what sound each animal makes.

As she goes through the animals, from pig to dog to cat, you can tell not only is she learning, but she is doing it in the most adorable way possible. Josie has a smile on her face the whole time and seems to be loving, showing off her singing skills. She can’t pronounce everything perfectly yet, but she is well on her way to being a fluent talker!

As she nears the end, she makes sure to have a big finish!

As she comes to the end of the song, she belts out the last E-I-E-I-O so confidently you can’t help but smile out of joy. Josie exclaims yay, and it’s so lovely to see kids having fun while learning essential things in life. Nursery rhymes and lullabies are about the cutest way these toddlers can learn!
