He has a voice that can leave a crowd in chills.

On Payton’s YouTube channel, he’s shared videos of him performing the national anthem at sporting events. As we know, “The Star-Spangled Banner” takes quite a bit of talent and confidence to sing. But Payton managed to rock it even at the age of 14.

Everyone was in for a special treat the day he took center stage during the school’s talent show.

After being announced, the teen sat down at a piano that had been brought in for his performance. That’s because not only is Payton an amazing singer, he can tickle the ivories too!

Only a couple of moments after he unleashed his beautiful voice there were girls cheering from the stands. Perhaps he already had a fan club?

It’s an act that’s been watched more than a million times on YouTube.

The internet is full of talent show videos, from creative dances to ones that leave you split at the sides from laughter. Remember the fifth-grade boys and their synchronized swimming skit?

However, there’s something about listening to a musician pour their soul into a rendition that can be second to none.

He sings Ed Sheeran’s hit “Thinking Out Loud.”

You’ll probably remember it was a romantic song that had all the ladies swooning over the artist. With lines like, “…darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70,” it’s no wonder why it tugged on heartstrings.

In fact, “Thinking Out Loud” topped the charts and even won the Grammy Award for “Song of the Year.” All that to say – it was the perfect tune for Payton to take on because of its popularity.

In the captured footage of his performance, Payton sings the lyrics:

“Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Oh, darling, place your head on my beating heart
I’m thinking out loud
But maybe we found love right where we are”

At the end of the song, the entire gymnasium erupts into applause and cheers for their classmate and his cover of “Thinking Out Loud.”

While it’s unclear whether there were any real “winners” in their talent show, Payton’s act did manage to make a splash on the internet. Since then too, he’s also released many other covers on social media as well.
