Sisters Enthrall Audience Singing “Ring Of Fire”
Just think if Johnny could have seen them himself – I think he would have loved it.

Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire is a classic song for good reason — it’s just so catchy! Cash made it famous with his low, gravelly vocals and deep, rich baritone voice. But now two sisters are making it their own and adding an entirely new twist.

If Cash’s performance was all about gravitas and his distinctive rumbling vocals, the sister duo’s is exactly the opposite.

In fact, their performance is light and sweet. It relies heavily on harmony — but it does so perfectly.

Lennon and Maisy Stella are two sisters from Ontario, Canada. They got their start in 2012 on the TV series “Nashville.” It got canceled, but that didn’t stop the two sisters from pursuing their dreams. They struck out in new ways and quickly gained fame for their acting abilities as well as their beautiful singing voices.

They got the chance of a lifetime — to perform live at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Their song of choice was Ring of Fire. It’s a perfect choice for the city that saw Cash himself perform so many times.

The girls’ performance was absolutely stunning. But their use of two-part harmony, with Maisy taking the backup vocals, is what makes the cover truly unique.

And people can’t get enough of the gorgeous duo’s performance.

“Not sure how I got here but as soon they started to sing my whole body lit up ‘whoa’,” said one commenter. “When Maisy kicked in her high harmonies my head almost exploded! SWEET SWEET stuff girls!”

Other commenters could barely believe the sisters had so much talent at so young an age. During the performance at the Grand Ole Opry, they were only 14 and 9, respectively.

“I love how the introduction shows just how young they are,” said another commenter. “Amazing talent in these two. And who makes those kinds of harmonies!!”

Many people also mentioned they thought the “Man in Black” himself would have been proud to hear the new take on his famous song.

“Absolutely awesome,” said another commenter. “To take one of the greatest country songs ever and put their own spin on it and make it great in its own right – wow. It can’t be too much longer that these girls will be all over the radio and on the charts.”

But interestingly, Cash himself was covering the song when he released it in 1963.

Although it would become one of his most famous songs of all time, he wasn’t the composer —nor was he the first person to sing it.

The song was actually composed by his wife, June Carter Cash, along with Merle Kilgore.

It was recorded by the Carter Family a full year earlier in 1962. Although Cash was part of that experience, it’s his rich vocals that we associate with the song.
