We all know that heavy drinking can lead to a person making bad decisions, and apparently, that goes for feral pigs too.

A story in Australia went viral after a wild pig ran amok at a campsite due to consuming several six-packs of beer. While he might not remember all the details – the people who witnessed his erratic behavior certainly do.

It’s an unbelievable tale that sounds like it came straight from a movie comedy. However, it actually ends with a lesson for all of us!

Going camping can be fun, and for many people – alcohol makes it even more entertaining. That’s why you can easily find it at most grounds you go to.

So it’s no surprise that some campers in Port Hedland, Australia decided to bring some for their trip. However, they never expected to share it with a sneaky swine.

It all started when they went to sleep one night near the DeGrey River.

When you go camping, it’s nice to wake up to the sounds of nature, like the birds chirping. But instead, this particular group of campers woke up to the sounds of “crunching” cans.

A woman named Merida explained to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) what was told to her by the neighboring campers. She said:

“It was in the middle of the night and it was these people camping opposite us, and they heard this crunching of the can and they got their torch out and shone it on the pig – and there he was scrunching away at their cans.”

Now, it wasn’t just a couple of beers either (that maybe he could have handled). Instead, the people thought the pig consumed 18 of them, which is likely why his behavior turned a little nutty.

The drunken animal began raiding their garbage and then took off for some other adventures. According to Merida, he was seen at another site having a bit of trouble with a cow.

This kind of stuff you can’t make up.

She told ABC:

“And then there was some other people camped right on the river and they saw him running around their vehicle being chased by a cow.”

Once fights start breaking out, any person (or beast) should know it’s way past their bedtime! Merida continued:

“It was going around and around and then it went into the river and swam across to the middle of the river.”

Fortunately, the feral pig did eventually go to “sleep it off” under a tree log. But there was a lot of damage because of his wild behavior.

Not only did the lush put a big dent in the campers’ beer, he also ransacked garbages too making a mess. A representative from Main Roads, Fionna Findley, had an important message for all of those headed to the great outdoors.

“We just want to remind everyone when you do pull over, make sure [your food and alcohol] is securely stored because there are a lot of animals out there that are keen for a free feed.”

She also expressed how their workers weren’t equipped to control the wildlife already, but how intoxication makes it that much worse.
