“It’s just a reality of life: over time sweat and natural oils from your body will seep into your pillow while you sleep, attracting dust, dirt, and other nasty elements. However, that doesn’t change the fact that discolored and yellowed pillows are not very attractive!”

As Jillee says:

“A few years ago. I was mourning the state of our pillows and had accepted that I probably needed to go out and buy some new ones. But I thought I may as well see if I could find any info online about washing pillows before I chucked them in the trash.”

Three easy steps to whiter, cleaner pillows

Once you’ve gathered up all the supplies, you’ll want to run the pillows through the wash on a hot water cycle. Makre sure that you let them soak for a long while. IF your washer doesn’t have a soak function, you can use a bathtub or even a pot of hot water on your stovetop. If you use your stovetop, make sure your water is on a rolling boil.

Next, add the two detergents and Borax into a mix and let them dissolve. Once hte powder dissolves, pour the mixture over your pillow. Make sure you let the pillows soak completely. Then just wait for 30 minutes.

After this, let the pillows rinse thoroughly and run them through a fluff cycle to get completely dry.
