Being a single mom can be incredibly testing, as 36-year-old Cara Simmons knows. She had been working as many shifts as she could in her maid job to support her family. She never took a day off and she didn’t have vacations.
Cara’s schedule had been becoming more loaded as she tried to keep up with the financial demands of having three children. She was hospitalized on multiple occasions with stomach ulcers – all because she had worked herself so hard.
If there was anyone deserving of good fortune, it was Cara. And she didn’t know it, but on a seemingly normal day at work, it was about to come her way…
Cara’s employer, Maid Bright, asked Cara to clean a “very important” client’s house for an upcoming party. When Cara arrived, an actress who was in on the surprise pretended that she was the homeowner and explained to Cara that she’d cleaned already, but there were a few other things Cara was needed for.
She probably never expected the pretend homeowner to take her into the kitchen, where a chef was cooking up some dishes, and ask her to taste test the gourmet foods!
Cara, being a mom we can all relate to, told the chef that her favorite food was spaghetti, but she was in for a much bigger treat than that. The chef bought her a $500 lobster, edible gold, a $4,000 white truffle, followed by so many plates of dessert, she clearly didn’t know where to start.
Just as Cara was finishing her food, a masseuse arrived, and explained that he needed to warm up his hands, asking if anyone would be willing to be massaged before the party. The homeowner asked Cara to step in, and she said,
“What is going on with my day today? I think it’s my birthday.”
Though she seemed a little surprised at the offer, Cara was happy to take it. After a massage lasting over an hour, the pretend homeowner took Cara upstairs and said she had a bunch of clothes she was looking to get rid of – and that Cara was free to take anything she wanted.
The suspicion must have really been rising now, but Cara tried on pairs of $200 boots, a jade necklace and a pea coat, at the homeowner’s request.
The next minute, the doorbell rang, and Cara was asked to answer the door for the “movers”. She let them in, and the pretend homeowner asked her to open some boxes. She did – and discovered that her own stuff was inside them.
As the “mover” came back into the living room with another box, Cara asked,
“Um… Where’d you get these from? These are the items in my house.”
At first, the “mover” acted confused, pretending to be as flabbergasted as Cara, telling her that the items were for the person who owned the house, “Miss Cara Simmons”.
By this point, Cara was clearly incredibly confused, and the “mover” told her to come outside with him to his van, where he could “clear some things up”. He opened the back of his van and Cara’s family jumped out to greet her, while she gasped in surprise.
Everything was finally admitted to Cara: she was on a prank show that did good things for good people. The team had renovated the house that Cara was standing outside and paid for it – and now it was hers.
Cara could only break down and cry at the news. In the emotional moment, she hugged her family as the TV host handed over the keys to her new home.
Not all pranks are kind, but this is one we can definitely get behind! You can check out the video of the whole prank unfolding just below.
