Loved ones of seniors around the world are trying their best to be there for their seniors and make up for the cancellation of prom.

That’s why 7-year-old Curtis Rodgers of Raleigh, North Carolina wasn’t going to just stand by while his favorite person had her prom canceled.

His favorite person is his nanny Rachel Chapman.

He says his nanny is “one of the best people I’ve known.”

So, when he heard that her prom was canceled, he decided to plan and throw one for her.

Curtis hadn’t seen Rachel in about two months because of the pandemic.

So, he spared no detail on creating a prom-like setting for his beloved nanny.

“He was very excited and wanted to make sure everything was just right and get his suit on and pick out his bow tie that matched her dress,” Curtis’ mom Elissa said. “It was really cute. He was really excited for it to start and make sure he was ready to impress her.”

In addition to being dressed to the nines, he made sure to have their after school snack of choice, peanut butter and apples, as an appetizer.

Google served as their prom DJ, playing Rachel’s favorite songs and there was definitely dancing.

They even took prom photos. They also make sure to maintain social distancing using a pool noodle to help with this.

“First he was waiting outside when we got there with the pool noodle and then he led me into the backyard,” Rachel told ABC 13. “He had all my favorite foods and everything. I could tell he put a lot of thought into it.”

Elissa said she was more than happy to help throw a makeshift prom for Rachel, who has been Curtis’ nanny for more than a year.

Especially since she knows how much Curtis loves her.

“They’re awesome together,” Elissa said. They have tons of fun. She’s really become a special part of our family.”
