K9s are dogs that do great work in their communities.
According to the National Police Dog Foundation:
“A police dog, also known as K-9 or K9 (a homophone of canine), is a dog specifically trained to assist members of law enforcement. Dogs have been used in law enforcement since the Middle Ages.”
These dogs do a great job looking out for the people in their communities. And sometimes, they also help other members of their species!
An adorable group of helpless puppies were found abandoned in a remote dumping ground in Southwest Atlanta. These dogs were rescued by Georgia State Patrol with some special help from Officer Tek – the force’s beloved K9.
Tek and Trooper Jordan Ennis were out for a ride when they happened upon three young pups in a deserted subdivision.
They stood side-by-side, scared and cowering from the troopers underneath a nearby bush and it became clear that they were alone and abandoned.
The broken look on their faces just goes to show how timid and frightened they must have been.
Ennis and Tek felt compelled to act.
Together, they loaded the puppies into their vehicle and journeyed back to the station. Tek stayed beside them the whole time to offer canine comfort to the young pups and support them through their ordeal.
“TFC1 Ennis was in southwest Atlanta yesterday in a known stolen car dumping ground. He was driving in an abandoned subdivision when he saw three puppies that had been dumped in a briar patch,” Georgia’s Department of Public Safety wrote on their Facebook page.
There was also more good news to share.
The puppies were brought to the station, where they were promptly adopted by Ennis and three other members of the headquarter staff.
While it’s unclear if we’ll ever discover who was responsible for abandoning these precious pups, one thing we know for sure is that the victims will certainly be able to recover from the incident and move forward towards a happier life.
The Georgia Department of Safety summed up the incident perfectly on their Facebook page.
“A Trooper never knows what he may encounter on a shift, but a day with puppies is a good day,” the department wrote.
Ennis and Tek did an incredible job saving these puppies, and we’re so glad all three puppies are in good homes, where they can enjoy their lives and never have to worry about being abandoned again.
