2020 has been the year of cancellations, rescheduling, and downright disappointment for many children across the country. They’ve had much of their little lives uprooted by the coronavirus pandemic. Many don’t really understand why things have changed, they just know things are different and they’re not too happy about.

This got one couple thinking about the fate of Halloween.

Is the coronavirus going to cancel trick-or-treating traditions? Not if they have anything to say about it.

They knew that some people may be a little skittish about sending their kids out to get candy from strangers during a pandemic. They may have the whole mask thing covered, but how do you get around the interaction of someone dropping candy into your child’s bag and still maintain

Check out the slide that one couple made that allows kids to safely trick-or-treat from six feet away. They created a candy slide where people can put the candy down a slide that goes right into the child’s bag at the other end. This way, no one has to have any physical contact and kids can still take part in the trick-or-treating tradition.

The slide is pretty easy to make and has minimal parts.

The couple made a YouTube video to give step-by-step instructions on how to put the slide together.

All you need to make this slide is a variety of PVC pipe and connectors. Once you have the base made, you’ll want to get some paint and spooky decorations to make it fit in with the holiday. That’s seriously all you need.

The most important thing to remember is to have a 4-inch pipe that’s at least seven feet long if you want it to be functional and truly coronavirus-friendly.

The fun thing about this project is that once you have the base made, you can customize it any way you want. This couple decided to put a skeleton on one end. But, that’s not necessary. You can add a ghost, witch, or just leave it plain if you want. As long as you have the slide, you’re good to go.

Once the couple finished their slide, they invited some kids over to make sure it works. They wanted to see if they had any kinks to work out before the big night.

They sent some candy down the shoot and it went right into the kids’ bags. Success!

With this handy invention, there’s no reason why Halloween still can’t go on. While things may look a little different, the spirit of Halloween can still be alive and well with just a little touch of creativity and imagination.
