How far would you go to show your significant other that you loved them? If they were facing something difficult, would you do everything you could to face it with them?
Eva Barilaro discovered that her boyfriend, Damien, was one in a million when he shaved her head for her – then immediately shaved his own head in support.
Because Eva has alopecia, although she had been growing her hair for a decade, she finally admitted to herself that she needed to shave it off again. She had already had it shaved once before by her granddad. It’s likely that Eva decided it was better to have a completely shaved head than obvious bald patches.
Eva shared a video to TikTok of the head shave. With her hair already cropped short, she sits in her bathroom while her boyfriend carefully uses the clippers on her head. The couple chat to one another while the shave takes place, though Eva looks nervous and a little upset.
When Damien shaves off the last of her hair at the top of her head, it almost seems that Eva can’t bear to look at the finished result.
She closes her eyes for a couple of seconds, before bravely opening them again, wiping away the tears, and pointing to show Damien a spot that he’s missed.
As the video draws to an end, nobody, not even Eva, can expect what comes next. Instead of switching the clippers off, he turns them on himself, and shaves directly through the middle of his own head of hair.
At first, Eva calls out in protest, but as Damien continues to shave, she breaks down into tears. Damien leans over and gives her a quick kiss and cuddle, before continuing to shave off the rest of his hair.
It must have been incredibly emotional for Eva. By shaving his own hair, Damien was committing a beautiful, selfless act of love. He knew that Eva was distressed to have to lose her own locks, so he supported her in the only way that he could: by making himself look exactly the same.
Eva’s original clip on TikTok has amassed over 1 million views and 160 thousand likes since it was posted in May. And the video has since made it onto YouTube, where Eva captioned it:

It has since been viewed 750,000 times, and those who left comments couldn’t be more supportive. One person wrote:

Other people were more interested in how smoothly Damien was able to shave his own hair. They’ve got a point – he’s a hair shaving pro!
Damien is clearly an incredible boyfriend who loves Eva enough to make his own personal sacrifices for her. His gesture proves that he’ll always be there to support Eva however he can.
