This is the moment we can all say that technology is so beneficial. Had it not been for a medical alert bracelet, who knows what could have happened to this sweet, old lady.

92-year-old Gigi has advanced dementia, meaning her thinking skills and memories are affected. Dementia is a general term that covers many other conditions, Alzheimer’s included.

She left unnoticed and got lost walking around the neighborhood in suburban Franklin Park, New Jersey.

Call it fate or coincidence, but an Amazon delivery driver named Wilmar was at the right place, at the right time. He noticed the old lady and her bracelet so he stopped to help her.

Wilmar was able to call, Karen, Gigi’s granddaughter, who gave him her home address.

Karen was out picking up her mom from the doctor but as soon as she gave Wilmar her address, the kind delivery driver took Gigi back to the house. The moment is captured on the doorbell’s camera.

“I was able to flip on my Ring camera and watch them come into the driveway,” says Karen. “It gave us that extra layer of comfort and relief that we could see everything, that she was safe, she was where she needed to be.”

Wilmar shared his experience,

“I was delivering and I saw this older lady was walking by. She waved at me, which isn’t an odd occurrence, people wave at you all the time as an Amazon driver. But she was waving at me like something happened. I noticed how she had this wristband on. And it had her name and her information, as well as who to contact.”

He had the presence of mind to pull over and see if she needed help.

Karen was more than thankful for Wilmar’s response.

“I felt that Wilmar went above and beyond. We have that type of a great close-knit community here, that if there’s something that a driver’s going to spot, that’s out of line, he’s going to say, ‘I’m going to make sure that my customers are taken care of, because this doesn’t look right,’”

Plus she knew Wilmar which made the situation more comforting.

”It made me feel safe that she was taken care of by somebody who’s been to my home, somebody that had a connection to the house and the family.“
