It was Simon’s personal feeling but with the praise of the other three judges and the support of the crowd, Simon couldn’t deny just how talented this young man is.

When Alex Keirl went on stage to audition for Britain’s Got Talent, he really wanted to impress BGT judge Simon Cowell.

He also wanted to hear Simon’s opinion because it was important for Alex to learn from someone who works and is a veteran in the music industry.

“If Simon gives me great comments, it would be the best thing for me now,” Alex said in his BGT interview.

Alex, 20, is originally from Chester, England. He started singing when his mum bought him a karaoke machine. At home, he would use the machine and sing all the time.

Singing became his life.

And this was one of the reasons why he wasn’t accepted at school. The other students poked fun of him and told him he was self-centered. They told Alex he must think very highly of himself because he always wanted to be on stage, where the focus was on him.

“Growing up and singing was tough, kids can be quite harsh,” Alex mentioned in an interview.

But, he said, the experience made him a stronger person.

“I came through with my head held high. It can give you confidence and perhaps, without it, I wouldn’t be here today,” Alex said.

And, even though his childhood was tough, he still managed to practice his love for singing.

He actually starred in their school musicals, including Hairspray, Grease and We Will Rock You. And he was also a member of their school choir and sang a solo, as part of the choir, at the Llangollen Eisteddfod.

And before he auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent, he was actually spotted by two Chester talent scouts and he had already won the Piper pub X-Factor competition in Hoole.

He described his BGT audition as “quite surreal.”

It wasn’t quite the same experience as shown on TV. Filming took all day and the buzzers were really loud. But he still enjoyed the experience.

“Ant and Dec were really lovely and when I actually got on stage, all my nerves disappeared,” he recalled.

And what did Alex think of the audience’s reaction to his audition?

“I was so overwhelmed. They all stood up. It’s so mad. It’s crazy. I was blown away… My dad was crying, my mum was crying. They were so happy for me,” he said.

And when it was finally shown on TV, he got me even more positive support.

“It’s been unbelievable. I am so happy and people have been leaving me lovely messages. My friends and family in Chester are really happy for me,” Alex gushed.

This included his music teacher from his school days.

“I am really proud and pleased for him. All Alex has ever wanted to do is sing for a living and I hope this will lead to his dream,” his music teacher, Clare Scanlon, said about Alex.

And what is Alex’ dream?

“My dream is to get a recording contract. It would be great to get the recognition and for people to respect me and my music. It would be an absolute dream,” Alex declared.

As long as you work hard, Alex, you will make that dream come true.
