The mail system is truly an amazing thing. Thousands of letters and packages are delivered every day and sent through hubs all around the country. Some of them are even sent overnight, which is a whole new challenge. The fact that we even have this system is pretty impressive.
These days, it seems like there are delivery options for everything. In 2019, Amazon announced that it would premiere free one-day shipping for Prime subscribers. Meanwhile, businesses like DoorDash, UberEats, and GrubHub have made it possible for us to get dinner delivered — and more than just pizza or Chinese food. You can even have clothing rentals delivered to your house through online subscriptions.
But with all this mail flying from place to place, at least some human error is to be expected. We can put all the “fragile” stickers we want on packages, but they still get destroyed, squished, crunched, and flattened.
And then there are the delivery drivers that go beyond normal human error. These people don’t care about those “fragile” stickers or even about getting your package to the right place. Here are 55 delivery drivers that deserve to go into the Hall of Fame …for being terrible, that is.
1. There’s no point in delivering a package if you’re going to destroy it.
This person ordered a vinyl record on the internet, which is obviously something fairly delicate that can’t be bent. But the delivery driver decided to cram it into the mailbox however they could.
2. I said THERE’S NO POINT IN DELIVERING A PACKAGE IF YOU’RE GOING TO DESTROY IT.
Yup, that’s a brand-new television, which definitely isn’t cheap. But the people who delivered it couldn’t be bothered to treat it gently Now, this new TV is useless.
Diplomas are important documents, tangible proof you completed a degree with a lot of time, money, and effort. What more do they need, other than giant words that say “DO NOT BEND”?
Sometimes, packages get slightly damaged during the mailing process and other times they get utterly destroyed. This was probably the result of a machine and a hasty re-taping job.
Delivery drivers are encouraged to try to find discreet places to put packages as a way to deter thieves. But that’s not always possible if the packages are really big. This driver had a foolproof idea for hiding the delivery.
This person was frustrated after the postal service lost three of their packages and wondered what was going on. They finally figured out the drivers had been putting their purchases, instead of in the package box right beside it.
This person was confused to receive a notice that their package hadn’t been delivered due to an “obstacle in front of the door.” This leads you to wonder: how big was that package?
Sometimes, minor damage to packages is unavoidable. But in general, you expect your items to get to you in one piece. Maybe they thought it was an improvement to deliver it in 100 pieces.
Delivery drivers have a lot of packages to drop off, which often means racing against the clock. But this seems a little too lazy to be legitimate. How was this person even supposed to know their package had arrived?
Yup, that door opens out and the delivery driver placed the package in such a way that it completely blocked the exit. I’m really hoping they have a back door somewhere!
This delivery driver saw an open window and decided to put the package in the house in a unique way rather than by the front door. It was just their luck that open window was above an open toilet.
This person ordered a new door and received it like this. How the delivery drivers managed to bend a door is beyond me, but they seriously need to adjust their technique.
This person had a lovely little gnome figurine on their front porch that they never expected would get caught up in a grisly murder. However, the delivery driver launched their package at the door, shattering the gnome. Poor guy.
This recent grad was less than thrilled to see their diploma, which they’d worked hard for, dropped into a puddle by a delivery driver. On the bright side, at least they didn’t fold it!
This person used to have a pair of cute lions guarding their property. Now, thanks to a careless delivery driver, they have a sphinx. Maybe it’ll bar other careless delivery people in the future.
We’ll never know the rationale behind this delivery. Packages at this apartment complex are supposed to go to the front desk for safekeeping. This one, which contained a trove of sensitive info, was left on the stoop.
This person’s security camera captured not one, but two delivery drivers chucking packages up their stairs. Sure, they’re in a hurry, but do they really have to throw boxes?
Could anything be more noticeable than a giant red sticker that says “FRAGILE”? I don’t know what happened to this box, but I don’t think it was handled with care.
Most delivery drivers at least try to place packages in a place where they won’t draw the attention of thieves, especially if they obviously contain expensive items. Apparently, a giant box with a new TV inside doesn’t qualify.
20. It might be time to call Liam Neeson, because those packages have been taken.
After the drivers delivered three packages to his neighbors, who refused to give them back, this guy got fed up. Just bring the right mail to the right house, already!
This person probably would’ve never found their package if it wasn’t for a neighbor who saw the delivery truck. The driver decided to tie the package to a fence a full half-mile from the house.
It’s common knowledge that delivery drivers openly disregard “Fragile” stickers and treat packages as roughly as they like. I don’t know what’s in this package, but I can tell you it’s not in good shape.
This person was actually at home when the delivery drivers dropped off their package. Here’s the best way to make sure a TV gets stolen: place it on the front porch in a big box labeled “TV” and don’t bother ringing the doorbell.
Sure, it’s not the end of the world, but it’s sure annoying to get a book delivered in this condition! Can we ask all the delivery drivers not to bend packages unless they’re sure they’re bendable?
Not every delivery driver delivers packages — some of them deliver food! Apparently, this person never learned that you carry pizzas flat instead of under your arm.
Dear everyone: if a package doesn’t fit in the mail, the solution isn’t to crush everything until it finally does. Even assuming their items aren’t destroyed, how are they going to get them out?
This delivery driver apparently couldn’t be bothered to get the package any closer to the door. So instead, they left it in the middle of the driveway in the rain. Um, thanks, I guess?
This person was looking forward to getting their package of several bottles of apple cider. Instead, they got a box that was full of broken glass and soaked in old apple cider slowly turning into vinegar. Yum!
Package delivery personnel aren’t the only ones who can make you rethink your choices. Someone spotted this food delivery driver engaging in this disgusting act before grabbing his customer’s food and hitting the road.
At what point do delivery drivers start getting points for messing up a package the most? This person might just take first prize. It requires skill to mess up a package that badly.
This food delivery driver was spotted urinating on the ground in front of a store with public bathrooms before hopping on his bike without washing his hands. We can only hope he had hand sanitizer somewhere in his bag.
Why do delivery drivers insist on folding packages when they have no idea what’s inside them? They have no clue whether they contain money, diplomas, sensitive documents, or in this case, art prints intended to be hung on the wall.
This person shared a photo of their IKEA boxes that contained six shelves. Thanks to the damage inflicted by the delivery people, every one of them was damaged.
This package was put on the porch in such a way that it was impossible to open the door. Hopefully, they had another door or a helpful neighbor who was willing to lend a hand.
If you’ve ever shelled out the money for a new TV, this picture might make you cringe inside. That’s the start of a long and irritating refund process that might put you several additional hundred dollars in the hole.
This mail carrier might get a pass if they don’t recognize that structure as a magazine rack. But for most people, it would be a pretty obvious alternative to crushing the magazines and stuffing them into a tiny mailbox.
If we cut the delivery driver some slack, we might say it wasn’t raining when they dropped off the packages. But isn’t their policy to put packages by the front door, not exposed on the side of the road?
Talk about a disaster — there’s no way to open these boxes (or the front door) without having something come crashing to the ground. The only solution might be to find three other people willing to lend a hand and have everyone grab one box.
It often seems amazing how people will miss signs are right in front of their faces. This sign not only has written instructions but it even includes a helpful arrow to point the way. I guess it was still too confusing.
This package delivery is just a mess. They’ve stacked packages that aren’t supposed to be stacked and turned all the boxes the wrong way. I can only imagine the state of the contents inside.
41. If only there was a place to put the package so this didn’t happen!
This person noted with the aggravation that there was a deck just a few steps away with a very clear box to put packages in. Instead, delivery drivers insisted on leaving packages by the garage, which led to…this.
I guess it’s nice that the delivery driver made an effort to hide the package, but anyone who’s looking will be able to find it easily. I suppose this is one of those “it’s the thought that counts” situations.
This poor person just wanted a nice birthday cake to celebrate their special day. Unfortunately, mailing a cake went about as well as you would imagine.
Food delivery services like DoorDash and UberEats can be nice, but they come with unique problems. This guy made it in the news after his DoorDash delivery man ate half of his dinner!
Ideally, packages get to you on time and not covered in food. This person wasn’t so lucky. Their package arrived a day later than expected and was covered in peanut butter.
Most of us probably know this, but the mail delivery rule is to not “just put it in anything resembling a mailbox.” You shouldn’t, for example, stick a package inside a garbage can at the end of the driveway.
This delivery driver had a place to put packages at this address but preferred a different way of delivering the mail. They kept launching packages over the fence, regardless of what was in them.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: don’t bend packages if you don’t know what’s inside them! Sure, this children’s book is still technically readable, but come on.
This person had a private, covered porch that was the perfect place to store packages. But the delivery driver had a different idea. Why not stick them in the “dirt hole” in the yard?
The Currier family apparently had a problem with missing UPS drivers and consequently not getting their deliveries. They left a note to let them know they were home and would answer the door if they just knocked. It seems like a foolproof strategy, but apparently not.
It’s upsetting to get a package covered in a substance, even if you know what it is. It’s even more upsetting to get a package covered in something that looks a lot like blood. I think I’d wear some gloves while opening it.
The delivery driver for this apartment complex delivers packages by opening a large door at the back of the mailbox and shoving them through. Unfortunately, residents have to open their own tiny doors in the front. How are they going to get this out?
Okay, cancel everything we said about other people winning the prize for the worst delivery drivers. They might’ve been bad, but at least they didn’t drive a truck through someone’s wall.
This delivery driver was told to do whatever they could to conceal a package on the porch. So, they did what they could, but it wasn’t very effective. Next time, use a bigger pot!
Granted, it’s hard to conceal a package of this size, but at this point, why even try? It’s hilariously bad to see a rug perched on top of this very noticeable box.
